Kaapsehoop Adventures is a self-catering establishment in Kaapsehoop, Mpumalanga. The camp makes use of alternate energy sources such as solar lighting, gas refrigeration and stoves and a donkey boiler to supply hot water.
We are situated approximately 10kms from the village, and the venue is perched on the edge of the escarpment. The views are spectacular, and the area is well know for its abundant bird life and wild horses that roam the forests. Other animals frequently spotted close to the camp include baboons, different species of small buck, porcupine, and jackals.
There are 5 separate rooms that can accommodate 20 people in total.
Two rooms have indoor fireplaces to create that special ambience on cold nights.
Whilst individual bookings are welcomed, the venue lends itself perfectly to birthday parties, family gatherings, and even weddings! A special rate applies to a group booking with a minimum stay of two nights.
The bathrooms are communal and fitted with showers.
The kitchen is fully euipped, and all communal areas are seviced daily, and dishes are washed after meal times.
Linen is supplied, but guests are to bring their own towels. A torch or headlight is also recommended.
Kaapsehoop Adventures offers different tours and packages. Your hosts, Pierre and Sharon are happy to put together a package on request – whether it be a tour to the local caves or mines, a swim in the waterfalls or a guided tour to Adam’s Calendar – reputed to be one of the oldest man made structures in the world – definitely worth a visit.
If you are after something more sedentary – we can arrange a picnic hamper (POA) and you have a sundowner with a glass of your favorite tipple.
We have wood for sale at R20 a bag should you wish to light a fire in your room for ambience.
Guests are also welcome to bring their mountain bikes and cycle through the forest, or hike the local trails in the area.

Local area description
We enjoyed our visit away from the busy city. Pierre and his wife are very hospitable and friendly, made us feel welcome and we didn’t want to leave one of the most beautiful places in South Africa. The place has stunning old houses and interesting shops. The wild horses were most amazing. This place also have a lot of history and the most beautiful view of the stars that we miss in the city. Thanks to Pierre and his wife for a wonderful breakaway.

Sal beslis nie die plek aanbeveel nie. Baie swak rigtingaanwysings, swak ontvangs, bedlinne was beslis alreeds gebruik deur vorige gaste. Teleurstellende ondervinding.
